Our big day will be taking place at Higher Eggbeer Farm in Exeter. It’s a beautiful spot, set in the rolling hills of Devon and we’ll have the place to ourselves to enjoy. If it’s nice weather the ceremony will be outdoors, but we also have the Chapel barn as backup.
Ceremony Time: 12:30pm
Address: Higher Eggbeer Farm, Exeter EX6 6JQ
After the ceremony and a fun confetti moment, we’ll enjoy drinks, nibbles and a good natter whilst taking in the lovely views. Then we’ll move into the ‘Party Barn’ for speeches and our wedding feast. We’re planning a hearty hog roast fit for Hobbits with delicious salads, tasty beverages and desserts. See our FAQs for more and check out our wedding timings page for our full schedule.
After dessert (and a quick changeover) the Party Barn will transform into our dance floor! We’d love for you to join us for a good ol’ boogie but we also have a fantastic bar room great for chatting and catching up. The bar and music will keep going until 1am, so we can really let our hair down!
From 1am, we can continue as long as long as we wish in the smaller games room. Please note, that if you’re not staying with us on site and you need a taxi, be sure to book this in advance.
It means the world to us that you are coming and that we get the chance to celebrate together! We can’t wait to see you at Higher Eggbeer for our special day.
The whole day will take place on site at Higher Eggbeer where everything is close to hand and there are no long distances to walk (though the ground is a little rough and ready in some areas). Weather dependent we would love the ceremony to be held outside, so if the weather is looking hot, please keep this in mind and bring suncream/hats as needed. We have a wet weather backup and can hold the ceremony in the beautiful Chapel Barn if needed.
We have some on site accommodation available, please see our Accommodation page. Otherwise there are options in Exeter and the surrounding areas. However we recommend booking as soon as possible to increase the chances of finding somewhere closer to the venue.
Yes! Check out our site map for Eggbeer.
We recommend travelling on the Friday if you are coming from further away to avoid any on the day traffic mishaps as much as possible. The ceremony is taking place on Saturday the 20th at 12:30pm.
The ceremony is taking place on Saturday the 20th at 12:30pm. You’re welcome to arrive on site between 11.30am and 12.10pm latest. Though please note we will be busy making the final touches to our outfits until 12pm 😉
Check out our wedding timeline for a closer look at our plans and schedule for the day!
There is unlimited, free, on site parking right next to the venue buildings.
Though we had originally planned an adults only day, we understand that it isn’t possible for everyone, so please feel welcome to bring your children if you need to. For the ceremony, our celebrant will; point out a quiet area on the day in case anyone needs to step out with their child. Just a heads up that the venue isn’t child focused (there is a pool and some safety hazards) and we won’t have kids’ activities or special meals planned, so please keep that in mind if you bring your little ones with you.
No, we are having an animal free wedding.
We’ll be dressing up, and we’d love for you to do the same! Wear something that you feel great in. No need for black tie, just smart, celebratory, and in keeping with the specialness of the day.
Following the ceremony, there will be a hearty feast worthy of the Shire, with a delicious hog roast freshly carved by our caterers and served in baked rolls with stuffing, apple sauce, and plenty of crackling. Guests with vegetarian or vegan dietary requirements will be served a gently spiced pulled jackfruit alternative. Alongside the main meal will be a generous spread of salads and sides, including garlic and rosemary roasted potatoes with Cornish sea salt, a summer salad with heritage tomatoes, black beans, avocado, mango, cucumber, radish, red onion and feta, creamy coleslaw, and a fresh super green salad.
For those with room for a little more, dessert will include Eton Mess, chocolate brownie, and Biscoff cheesecake. We’ll also be serving a selection of canapés after the ceremony and delicious Cornish pasties later in the evening – because every good celebration deserves a second supper.
We have provided our caterers with all dietary requirements in advance, and guests with specific dietary needs will be catered for separately to ensure everyone can enjoy the feast.
We’ve got some lovely fizz, vino and non alcoholic options lined up for you during the day and meal. There is also an on-site bar which will open after the ceremony, with a wider range of drinks available for purchase.
Please don’t bring your own alcohol to consume on the wedding day as the venue are quite strict about this and will fine us. However, we’ll have plenty to keep us all watered for the toasting and feast. There is also an on site bar with a wider range of drinks available for purchase throughout the evening.
If you are staying with us on site, you are welcome to BYOB to consume on the Friday and Sunday. It’s just the day of the wedding that’s not allowed. Thank you for helping us with this!
Part of the beauty of Higher Eggbeer is that we have no curfew! Whilst the bar and DJ will finish at 1am, from that point onwards we can move to the smaller games barn and carry on as long as we’d like!
If you’re not staying with us on site and you need a taxi, be sure to book this in advance. We’ve been advised by the venue that they typically can’t be spontaneously called on the night. Please check out our Taxis page for local numbers. Higher Eggbeer is a farm on a hill accessed by rambly country lanes and it will be pretty dark and quiet away from the main wedding venue buildings at night.
We’ve been living together a while now, so already have everything we need. We also really appreciate you making the effort to travel and celebrate with us, so there is no need to give us gifts. However if you really want to give us something, a small contribution towards our honeymoon fund would be greatly appreciated.
